(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) The Gwangju, Jeonnam Regional SMEs and Startups Office held a Venture and Investment Road Show to help financing for innovative growth of SMEs and venture companies at Gwangju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CCEI) on April 10.

The Venture & Investment Road Show is an event that venture capital companies from the capital area come down to regional areas to offer investment consultation and promotion seminar.

The event has been prepared jointly by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Venture Capital Association, the Korea Business Angels Association, and CCEI to give opportunities to the enterprises in the regions faced with challenging investment environment.

19 venture companies, selected through prior screening, had time to present their plans and answer questions to investors.

Also, there were a one-on-one consultation session between investment experts and 40 SMEs and venture companies, as well as a mentoring session tailored to each enterprise.

Last year, SMEs and venture companies in Gwangju and Jeonnam area received KRW 49.7 billion investment, only 1.4% of the total nationwide. As such, regional companies have tough time in receiving investment.

Lee Jae-hong, the head of The Gwangju, Jeonnam Regional SMEs and Startups Office said, "In the regions lacking investment infrastructure, we will establish various platforms that connect venture business people and investment capital."
