According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) On June 6, Gwangju Innovation Promotion Committee said that it announced a recommendation to reform municipal policy, with a theme of "strengthen competitiveness of regional industries through smart manufacturing innovation."

It is the fourth time the Committee suggested recommendation since its launch on November last year, as a deliberation committee directly reporting to Gwangjy mayor.

The committee pointed out that Gwangju used to be led by regional industries such as automobiles and home appliance industries, but depended heavily on large conglomerates. Thus, the city needs reform of industrial structure and win-win cooperation between large corporations and SMEs.

It also suggested to introduce smart factory across manufacturing industries in the region, devise vision for manufacturing industries, supply experienced workforce, and sustainable administrative and financial support.

The committee recommended to strategically foster smart factory, put industrial complex at the center of smart manufacturing innovation, and establish support system responding to demand from the field.

The committee is consisted of 19 experts from various fields, such as economy, academia, civil society, press, law, youth, environment, and welfare, among others.
