Gwangju secured national budget of KRW 7.3 bn to become a hub of art tourism in Asia

According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) On September 3, Gwangju City announced that the ‎Ministry of Economy and Finance conducted a final review on providing national budget support for "Asia Art and Tourism Hub City Project" and decided to support KRW 7.3 billion.

Gwangju is set to invest KRW 14.6 billion over the next four years, from 2020 to 2023, in a project of constructing Asia Art and Tourism Hub City.

The project includes such activities as: establish a base of art tourism by creating an art and tourism center for the youth; foster the talent specialized in planning art and tourism projects; and support for startups.

The art and tourism center for the youth will become a place for exchanges between art tourism consumers and young artists, as well as work place for young artists from home and abroad, in connection with urban new-deal project.

It will be selected through public tender and operated starting next year.

Gwangju City plans to establish "Basic Plan for promotion as hub of art tourism in Asia" by developing and running tour products comprehensively combining art tourism resources of Gwangju.
