According to Yonhap News,

6 local SMEs in South Jeolla Province joined at a week-long international trade fair held in India last Nov. 12 and successfully reached a series of trade deals worth over USD 1 million.

The participants was publicly sponsored by South Jeolla Province and KITA Gwangju center.

A city official said “We’re taking baby steps towards the Indian market. We’ve fully recognized the market potential in this rising economy this year. Probably next year, we’ll find ways to gain momentum for business expansion to local markets.” A manager working for KITA Gwangju office said “Complex steps for import and a tariff barrier are making it harder for not a small number of local businesses here to get into India. We’ll give full support to these SMEs who wish for new business opportunities in India.”
