According to Yonhap News,

The city of Gwangju formed a task force responsible for development of AI industry, regarded as a future national growth engine.

The city released a guideline for the local authority reshuffle along with relevant enforcement ordinance and regulations on Nov. 14. The current ‘Dept. of Strategic Industry’ will be renamed ‘Dept. of AI industry’, which will serve as the control tower to perform authority-led projects to transform the city into a major AI tech-hub.

To comply with the government’s water management policy, the city newly establish ‘Water-Circulating System Dept.’ inside the bureau of Environment, whereas changing ‘Water Quality Dept.’ into ‘Sewage Treatment Dept.’

The number of professional advisers will also increase too. If all the process for the reshuffling is over, the number of employees to work with will jump from 3,721 to 3,921. The outline will be brought in the city assembly and finally comes into effect starting from Jan.1 next year when it’s approved.
