Gwangju city to push on building intelligent city

Gwangju Bukgu is fully gearing up to give administrative support to make the city infrastructure embedded with artificial intelligence, a key technology to keep up with a big wave of future tech trend in the upcoming era of the fourth industrial revolution. Under the initiative, Bukgu announced on Feb. 2 that the local authority has started to push on the plan named ‘2020 urban infrastructure based upon AI technology’, which includes four main goals and 12 separate tasks to follow.

Specifically, the local government runs a science class inviting an AI specialist, while opening a series of programs to enhance citizen experiences. Plus, specially designed courses to train AI specialists targeting kids and those who wish to be publicly certified. Educational programs for students to further enhance tech- capabilities, learning big data analytics or the IoT. A group of business delegates exploring overseas markets or industrial clusters will back up AI tech companies. In addition, the city comes up with a couple of pilot projects as part of administrative process to help drone and AI specialists.
