Gwangju city to set up an AI expert training school

The city of Gwangju announced on Feb. 12 that the local authorities run a public ad for an AI expert training school, a part of HR development plans led by the science ministry. The city hands out an application form which outlines facilities to come, academic courses to provide at the school, once the ministry unveils the draft. An official said chances are they could open in July if the city project goes well through the entire screening process. Gwangju city has already signed an MOU with a software education center, named “LIKELION” and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) for the foundation of the AI school last November. The city provides administrative support, whereas LIKELION and GIST are responsible for the educational curriculum and the venue for the project, respectively.

The school does not discriminate on grounds for age, academic background, nationality or career backgrounds in the admission and selection process and provide a step by step courses from basic to advanced sessions for the selectees. This two year curriculum was designed, benchmarking Ecole 42, a world class software academy in France, and mainly organized by the science ministry.
