According to Yonhap News,

The city of Gwangju will open an authorized site for the first time where drone users can fly civil UAVs and get pilot certificate for the first time.

Bukgu, the venue appointed to accommodate the drone accreditation course, announced on May 31 that an MOU between the city government and Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) formally conceded the launch of the service to test and issue certified license to civil drone users.

Starting with a piloting test which takes place on June 16, Bukgu opens the site every Tuesday and Wednesday.
To facilitate the test venue, Bukgu has built out flying spots which stretches across almost 10,000 ㎡ and indoor sites to fly and test UAVs and safety facilities, equipped with a full range of amenities.

The testing site appears to be good news to city residents who used to wander around to get licensed. The authorities rolled out another plan to transform the site into the national done park, authorized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, along with several other projects to further develop the UAV industry.
