According to Yonhap News,

Startups and SMEs Agency, Gwangju, Jeonnam office announced that the authorities will pick 83 candidates to join what’s called an Innovation Voucher program that supports manufacturers and small local businesses with KRW 2.7 billion.

Going through a biz-management coaching session with professional consultants, the selectees are given cash grants up to KRW 50 million each for three separate segments from consulting, technology support to marketing with 14 detailed programs. This type of voucher service goes into effect for the first time this year in Gwangju city.

Within the limits placed on cash grant vouchers, issued in the form of saving reward points by the government, the selected companies can choose whatever programs they like. The agency ran the ads last February and monitored 329 applicants, looking into papers and business performance on site.

Head of the agency said “Small businesses and manufacturers are now required for reform in the time of this post-coronavirus world. Hope that this program can help them stay resilient and take a grand leap forward to key players in the economy.”
