Gwangju city signed investment MOU with its 52nd partners

The city of Gwangju signed the 52nd partnership deal with Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and KOC Partners to build up a tech-base to facilitate an AI ecosystem within the city. ETRI is the largest government-funded research institution in Korea.

KOC Partners is an association formed among three separate entities-venture investors, entrepreneurs and a group of advisers linked closely to establish startup investment platforms taking the role of financier for venture tech firms.

The city government and its counterparts will work together to build up an industry base to accommodate AI ecosystem, making the most efficient use of resources as much as possible including planning, research and development, testing and entrepreneurship promotion.

In celebration of the MOU signing ceremony, the city mayor said “To scale business up and set out the path toward being unicorns in the city of Gwangju, we will make up for the administrative and legislative support system by each growth stage such as business planning, financing or providing work spaces for entrepreneurs armed with innovative ideas to create the largest tech-hub advancing artificial intelligence solutions in Korea.”
