Waiting for the grand-opening ahead, a construction project paving the way to build out a community industry base is at the final stage. The city of Gwangju announced on Jan 25 the completion of the project, establishing a tech-support and business center to be located inside the auto-parts production facility within Gwangju Bitgreen industry cluster.

The tech-support center (gross area: 1,906㎡) provides help regarding technology development tailored to individual entity, whereas a business center (gross area: 4,889㎡) takes the role of incubator, designed to help entrepreneurs successfully grow business by providing workspace, marketing and training programs. Another project to form a vehicle inspection center inside the cluster appears to come to an end by the end of the year 2022 after facilitating its main office building and inspection equipment in July this year.

The city authorities expect to create ripple effects, brining innovation in auto-parts production and investments, which ultimately results in better setting up a manufacturing ecosystem to make environmentally sustainable vehicles, once these centers start operation.

Under the shared goals to form a green auto-parts cluster on a 32,989㎡ Bitgreen cluster site, multiple private- public stakeholders like Gwangju Institute of Green Car Advancement, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), Korea Photonics Technology Institute (KOPTI), Korea Automotive Technology Institute, Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) and Honam University took part in the project, which aims to set the stage for technology development, facility construction, business support and equipment / facility implementation from 2016 to 2022.
