According to Yonhap News,

Sebang Lithium Battery Co., Ltd cut the first turf for its new EV battery production facility in the 2nd Pyeongdong industry cluster right after hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb 2. It’s the first large scale investment this year since the city has singed an MOU with Sebang a month ago.

Sebang, specializing in built-in camera battery and battery module production, will spend KRW 115 billion on the establishment of a new manufacturing plant, equipped with automated system, on a 29,000㎡ (gross area: 33,000㎡). The factory is reported to be an environmentally- friendly modular building, producing no harmful substances.

Once the factory construction project comes to an end in June this year, Sebang starts to run test operation and gears up to enhance its production capacity, equivalent, in output, to 420,000 units annually from March next year.

The new factory is anticipated to add 250 new jobs, the city said.
Sebang is planning to make the new production facility a bridgehead to access new markets worldwide.
