Gwangju-si is set out to promote the city as "a center of Artificial Intelligence (AI)" in cooperation with Gwangju TechnoPark, AI Industry Convergence Project Group, Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency (GITCT), and Korea Institute of Medical Microrobotics (KIMIRo).

Gwangju-si run a joint promotion pavilion at Smarttech Korea 2021, held at COEX, Seoul from June 23-25.

The 10th Smarttech Korea, held under the theme of "Connect the Future!" is Korea's only exhibition covering high-tech technology convergence business that displays innovative technologies and products at the forefront of the 4th industrial revolution - i.e., smart production and automation solutions, AI, big data, cloud, auto driving, robot, and metaverse.

This exhibition has been participated by about 200 companies involved in the 4th industrial revolution, representing various fields such as TmaxAI, ESTsoft, SK Telecom, Spring Clouds, Testworks, LUXROBO, AIMMO, NaverCloud, Coupang, SSG.com, among others.

Gwangju-si plans to attract AI companies by actively promoting its strength such as ▲ creation of AI Industrial Convergence Complex ▲ establishment of world-class AI-specialized data center ▲ creation of AI industry's demonstration test bed ▲ AI-specialized global startup support fund ▲designation as Korea's only AI Gwangju Free Economic Zone ▲ Gwangju AI 3 New Deal projects.

Gwangju's vice mayor said "By participating this exhibition, we expressed Gwangju's passion and ambition to build an ecosystem of AI industry," adding "we'll do our best to grow Gwangju into Korea's center of AI."
