'SWEET(Solar, Wind & Earth Energy Trade Fair) 2021', an international new&renewable energy exhibition opened at Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju on July 8.

It is co-hosted by Gwangju-si and JeollaNamdo, and organized by Kimdaejung Convention Center, KOTRA, and Korea Energy Agency, showcasing new energy technologies such as wind power, hydrogen fuel cell, Energy Storage System (ESS), and smart grid.

245 companies run 550 booths with participation of energy-related public corporations including KEPCO, Korea Gas Corporation, KEPCO KDN, KEOCP KPS and leading new and renewable companies such as Unison, BA Energy, among others.

Gwangju-si and the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership are planned to hold 'Innovative Growth Tour'.

The two signed an MOU on innovation-led win win growth to foster new and renewable energy industry in Gwangju city and support innovative growth of and win-win cooperation between large business and SMEs.

There will be also virtual business meetings over the next two weeks including exhibition period, participated by 24 countries including India, Egypt and Mexico.

Gwangju's mayor said, "this exhibition will be a venue presenting how Gwangju should move forward to achieve '2024 energy self-sufficient city' by sharing new information on new and renewable energy, which is leading Green New Deal," adding "we hope companies hit by the COVID-19 can use this exhibition as a stepping stone to open up new national and international sales channels."
