Gwangju-city, aiming to become a mecca of future AI, signed the 100th MOU.

It is the achievement in 1 year and 9 months since the first MOU. By area, big data and health care took the most. 61 companies relocated or established corporations.

Gwangju-si signed an MOU with Aju and Kakao Enterprise, promising AI enterprises, to lay the foundation for Gwangju style AI business at Kimdaejung Convention Center on July 20. It is significant in that it is the 100th MOU since the first MOU with Encored P&P in October 2019, and joining hands with Anchor company.

Aju started as construction materials provider, and have expanded into hotel, venture capital, auto distribution, and IT. It has recently began AI-based service business through its affiliate COGNET9.

Its main business models are Kakao i connect (AI-based business platform), Kakao i cloud (enterprise cloud platform), and Kakao work (comprehensive work platform),

Of 100 companies signed AI MOU with Gwangju city, 92 are companies and the rest 8 are related organizations or associations.

By area, 32 big data, 18 healthcare, 12 support, 8 security, 7 automobiles, 5 robot and drone, 3 sound recognition, 2 energy, and 13 others.

The city plans to attract 310 AI leading companies in various areas like vehicles, energy, health, and culture, and create 1,000 jobs by 2024.

Gwangju's mayor said, "100th MOU will be a turning point for Gwangju's goal of becoming the center of AI," adding "we will carry out AI projects close to our citizens' daily life, including creation of AI-based healthcare industry ecosystem, establishment of data platform, and provision of public service."
