Gwangju-si, which signed the 100th MOU with a company specialized in artificial intelligence (AI) in July, is speeding up its steps to establish a strong AI industrial ecosystem.

It signed MOUs on creation of Gwangju-style AI industry ecosystem at City Hall on September 7 with a total of 10 companies, including: GamSungTech , Software Convergence Research Institute, HME Square, which are AI healthcare companies; ENITT, a company specialized in AI energy; Coredotlab., a company specialized in AI data; and BTBL, See Know, Yerz., Tritium, and Purple Ocean, which are specialized companies in AI-based applications.

The city also pledged to actively cooperate with these companies in establishing a Gwangju-style AI ecosystem by setting up a local branch or regional office in Gwangju.

To this end, each company will actively go ahead with technology development and commercialization to create an ecosystem of AI-related specialized fields in Gwangju, provide technical and policy advice, ▲Establish a corporation in Gwangju or regional office to foster AI talent and create jobs ▲Development and operation of various business support programs and promotion of company to create an AI industry ecosystem ▲ Planning and implementation of training and employment programs for AI experts, in addition to technology development, commercialization, and technology and policy advice for establishment of AI-related specialty ecosystem in Gwangju.

On the occasion, representatives of each company said, "we will do our best to become a leading company in the AI sector in Gwangju, an AI-centered City, and grow into global mecca," adding "in particular, we will actively cooperate in fostering AI-specialists and creating new jobs."
