According to Yonhap News,

The infrastructure completion ceremony for the 'Eco-friendly Automobile Parts Cluster Creation Project', which has been pushed for since 2016, was held on December 1 at the Gwangju Institute of Green-Car Advancement's Leading Technology Support Center within the Bit Green Industrial Complex in Gwangju.

The project of creating an eco-friendly vehicle parts cluster is to build the foundation for testing and certification equipment and centers to strengthen the capacity for developing eco-friendly vehicles from 2016 to next year, and carry out 35 technology development projects including electric vehicle (EV) platform, convergence electric equipment, light weight, and special purpose vehicles.

The total project budget amounts to KRW 303 billion (national budget of KRW 143.1 billion, and local budget of KRW 140.5 billion and KRW 19.4 billion of private investment).

Construction of two infrastructure facilities was completed, including a leading technology support center and a global business center.

The leading technology support center is a comprehensive technical support building equipped with 180 types of testing and certification equipment to support domestic parts companies to develop eco-friendly vehicle technology and parts.

In particular, the largest real-vehicle Electromagnetic Compatibility Chamber (EMC) has been built that can accommodate even large articulated buses, in order to support electromagnetic waves testing and evaluation certification, which is in high demand due to expansion of electric and electronic parts including EVs.

Accordingly, it is expected to help resolving the difficulties of companies who have been waiting for months for electromagnetic wave testing and certification.

The Global Business Center is a comprehensive support building that supports commercialization in such way as fostering manpower, consulting, and marketing, and provide space for convention and office to attract and foster small and medium-sized business partners and to strengthen the capabilities of parts companies.

In the future, it is expected to support companies as a venue for information hub and a place for learning and exchange.
