According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju-si announced on January 19 that this year's regional industrial policy will be pursued towards business-oriented, citizen-participatory, and job-oriented economic structure.

Gwangju-si plans to substantialize the three New Deal policies-digital, green, and human-so that it can be felt in everyday life and lead to job creation.

In relation to the Digital New Deal, the vision for the 2nd phase of the national AI cluster construction will be announced within this month, and the target construction completion rate 65% of the integrated complex including the data center is to be achieved by the end of this year.

The city will also make efforts to expand solar power on Lotte Mart (2.5 MW) and the 2nd Ring Road (4.7 MW in 6 locations), lay the foundation for an energy self-sufficient city by building a real-time energy information platform, etc., and to implement human new deal projects such as Gwangju mutual growth job creation foundation, and discovery of the 2nd Gwangju-style jobs.

Gwangju-si is also determined to devise new industrial policies through communication with companies, institutions, universities, and citizens, and to strengthen the activities of industry-university-research councils representing the voices of the field.

The city will expand the number of students at AI school from 180 to 330, with the training period extended from 7 months to 10 months, in line with the trend of 133 AI companies opening offices in Gwangju after signing MOUs.
