According to Yonhap News,

Gwangju Air Industry is being gradually revitalized by taking the infrastructure such as the Air Appliance Innovation Support Center as a base.

According to Gwangju-si on April 19, the center installed 49 types of equipment including performance evaluation equipment with a total cost of KRW 22.1 billion through a public contest hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2017 and has been in operation since 2018.

In 2020, it was designated as the first institution for indoor air purifier (CA) certification testing in the Honam region, and issued certificates for 503 new products including its own performance evaluation and CA certification test.

Twelve companies from other regions have moved into the center, and the center has been working hard on international standardization projects through MOUs with the Korea Electronics Technology Institute and the Shanghai Institute of Metrology and Testing (SIMT) in China.

The Korea Air Industry Promotion Association was established in 2019 to support export of local companies, which now has 98 local companies registered as members.

Gwangju-si also plans to invest KRW 20 billion this year to start construction of a demonstration center for living environment air improvement, which aims to improve the air quality of indoor facilities such as kindergartens.
