The city of Gwangju and the Artificial Intelligence Industry Cluster Agency (AICA) announced on June 23 that they have selected 43 companies and tasks for the project to support the production of prototypes and advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) startups.

It will provide prototype production expense of KRW 50 million-KRW 150 million to 38 companies and advancement project expense of KRW 50 million- KRW 250 million to 5 companies (tasks).

Projects such as chest medical image analysis system, face-to-face consultation recording solution, intelligent rail robot, and cup collecting machine will be supported.

Among the companies supported so far, 2Digit, a financial AI startup, ranked 12th in the AI machine reading competition in April, beating Google, Facebook, and Microsoft, according to the AICA.

Muhan IT developed spatial information processing and analysis software and signed an agreement with an Israeli drone delivery company, while inDJ began overseas expansion, including Southeast Asia.

An AICA official said, "we will actively support startups so that they contribute to local job creation and revitalization of industrial ecosystem in the process of commercialization of various products and services.
