According to the Bank of Korea Gwangju on Dec. 27, the Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) for December, which comprehensively shows the sentiment of local consumers on the economic situation, was 83.5, up by 2.2 points from the previous month.

The CCSI is a composite index that standardizes and synthesizes six significant indices, including current living conditions, household income forecasts, and more.

The index, which fluctuated around the expected value of 100 this year, fell to 79.7 in July and then fluctuated in the 80-mark range.

The psychological index fell to 86.6 in September, 82.5 in October, and 81.3 in November.

The current living conditions CSI (80), which shows the household financial situation, is the same as the previous month, and the living situation prospective CSI (79) has risen by 2 points.

The CSI for forecasting household income (92) rose by 1 point, but the CSI for predicting consumption expenditure (106) remained the same as the previous month.

The current economic judgment CSI (48) and the future economic outlook CSI (55), which show the perception of the financial situation, rose 5 points and 6 points, respectively, from the previous month, reflecting expectations for economic recovery.

The employment opportunity outlook CSI (61) also rose by 1 point from the previous month.

The survey was conducted from the 14th to the 21st, targeting 600 households (537 households responded) in cities in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
