Gwangju to create demand for tourism using movie and drama filming locations

The Gwangju Tourism Organization (GJTO) is determined on tourism marketing by making use of popular movie and drama filming locations.

On May 23, GJTO announced that it signed an MOU with Gwangju Information & Content Agency (GICON) on the previous day to promote tourism through cooperation on production of video content.

The two organizations agreed to discover video content production and tourism resource promotion projects, and cooperate in providing material and supporting production of videos about local culture and tourism resources.

The GJTO said that Gwangju is gaining attention because it has infrastructure including Gwangju Content Cube (GCC) and filming locations for box office hits such as 'The Seoul Spring' and Netflix's 'DOONA!'.

An official from the GJTO said, "we will try to contribute to revitalizing the local economy by creating tourism demand through the video industry."
