Gwangju City held the "12th Korea-Japan Culture Caravan" on June 15 in Sendai, a sister city of Gwangju, and promoted the Gwangju Biennale and the region including Gwangju's tourist destinations.
"The Korea-Japan Culture Caravan" is a cultural exchange event designed to promote friendship between the two countries, encourage mutual understanding, and facilitate exchanges between local governments.
This year, the event was co-hosted by Gwangju-si, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Japan, and Sendai City in Japan.
The event received great response from Sendai citizens and Koreans living in Japan with traditional cultural performances of Korea and Japan, Taekwondo, K-pop, and J-pop concerts.
Gwagnju-si presented Samullori Instrumental Music by Chonnam National University and introduced cultural attractions including the Gwangju Biennale and the Asia Culture Center.
