According to Yonhap News,
Mayors and officials of seven cities in China and Japan expressed their intention to participate in 2011 Gwangju Summit of the Urban Environmental Accords which will be held in October in Gwangju.
According to Gwangju City on March 23rd, the delegation of Gwangju visited China and Japan from March 13th to 19th and achieved a fruitful result: Sakai and Osaka of Japan and Shanghai, Qingdao, Rizhao, Wuxi, and Nanjing of China said they would like to join the UEA Gwangju Summit.
An official of Gwangju said “mayors and officials of Chinese and Japanese cities showed great interest in the Summit, in that it is jointly hosted by Gwangju and the UN,” and added “we will conduct aggressive promotional activities to induce the participation of globally renowned environmental cities.”
