Gwangju and S.Jeolla Cooperate for Tourism Industry

Gwangju, South Jeolla and Korea Tourism Organization held a general meeting of a tourism promotion association yesterday and agreed to cooperate for tourism-related issues.

The city and province agreed on the need for cooperation to build a tourism infrastructure and reinforce competitiveness of the tourism industry due to changes in Korean and foreign tourism market.

In advance to organization of the association, both parties have joined efforts to participate in joint marketing activities and launch of flights to China from Muan International Airport.

Based on these achievements, Gwangju and South Jeolla organized the association through two working-level meetings this year.

Vice head of Gwangju and South Jeolla will take chair of the association in turns every year. Association members will consist of 19 officials from the city, province, and tourism organization, representatives from the lodging and restaurant businesses and tourism experts.

The association will work on joint promotional and marketing activities, tourism course development, Muan International Airport facilitation and tourism issue discussion.

The general meeting finalized reinforcing marketing activities to attract Chinese tourists, holding marketing with overseas online media, facilitating students as promoters, operating experience programs in Namdo, and developing promotion measures using Korean Stars as projects to cooperate.

A South Jeolla official noted that the association will greatly contribute to enhance efficiency of projects, including joint marketing and promotion, and reinforce tourism competitiveness.
