GWANGJU < invest Korea

(GWANGJU = Newsis) The city of Gwangju will support light emitting diode (LED) lams to the Republic of Benin in Africa.

The city held a ceremony on January 8 in front of its city hall to celebrate its aid to the African nation. The ceremony was joined by Mayor of Gwangju Kang Woon-Tae.

Gwangju decided to support the lamps upon the request made by Minister of housing and urban development of Benin in last April when the minister visited Gwangju.

The city will support 50 streetlamps, 10 LED lamps and 300 of desks and chairs.

The city of Gwangju prepared the recycled streetlamps and other materials, and Korea Electrical Contractors Associations provided the conduits and cables, and Gwangju Educational Office prepared the recycled desks and chairs.

Neomaru, POEF COMPNAY and KLTECH Corporation supplied their MIG LED lamps, which were popular in the Japanese and the U.S. markets.

“Gwnagju decided to provide the humanitarian aid to African countries as the city is famous for its spirit of democracy, human rights and peace. The LED lamps we provide will light up the entire world,” said Kang.
