According to Yonhap News,

(GWANGJU = Yonhap News) The employment rate of graduates of the vocational high schools and Meister high schools in Gwangju area shows a constant growth, according to Gwangju.

The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on February 3 that a total of 1,779 (42.2 percent) out of 4,216 graduates of class 2013 from 10 vocational high schools and one Meister high school successfully found their jobs after graduation.

The employment rate has been rising since 2011. The rate was 30.7 percent in 2011, and 35.2 percent in 2012.

30 graduates became public officials (including four non-commissioned officers of Republic of Korea armed forces). 65 were employed by public enterprises, 45 by financial institutions, 514 by large conglomerates and 1,125 by general companies.

City’s education office said that the rise in employment rate was due to the schools’ efforts to develop differentiated support system for students and various educational programs to strengthen students’ abilities to appeal in the job market.

“The rate is still a bit lower than the national average of 46 percent, but as it can be seen from the construction of the nation’s first job-seeking support center, we are putting our efforts to further increase the rate in cooperation with schools,” said an official of the city’s education office.
