Gwangju Aims USD 19.3 Bn Exports in 2014

(GWANGJU = Newsis) The city of Gwangju will hold a meeting for export stimulation measures in an effort to record USD 19.3 billion in exports in 2014.

The meeting, which is hosted by the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Gwangju CCI), will be held today at Kim Dae-Joong Convention Center in the afternoon. The attendants include Kang Un-Tae (Mayor of Gwangju), officials of the government authorities, business leaders and workers.

The meeting will commence with an opening speech from Park Hung-Seok, Chairman of Gwangju CCI, and officials from the government authorities including the city of Gwangju, Gwangju-Jeonnam Region Small and Medium Business Administration, Gwangju Main Customs, Gwangju CCI and Korea International Trade Association Gwangju Center will step onto the stage to explain export-related policies and supporting measures in 2014.

After the information session is concluded, a lecture will be held to share successful stories of export companies including Hanjin D&B, INTERSAVE Co., Ltd. Kwak Soo-Jong, former chief economist at Samsung Economic Research Institute, will also give a lecture regarding the global economy in 2014 and business environment for export companies in Gwangju.

“By this meeting, the city expects to provide information about various export supporting policies backed by the government authorities to businesses in Gwangju, and gather suggestions from both private and public sectors to draw up more efficient export strategies,” said an official of Gwangju CCI.

Any business leaders of the local businesses can participate in the meeting, the city said.
