Preparation for Future Cultural Contents Innovation Under Steady Progress

Photonics Korea 2014, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) and Gwangju Metropolitan City and organized by the Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development (KAPID), will be held in Gwangju Kim Dae-Jung Convention Center from October 6 to 8.

The exhibition will be held under the theme, "Innovation in Photonics, ICT and Future Cultural Contents." Major domestic companies including Samsung Electronics, LG Innotek, Dongbu Lightec have shown their participation. Many foreign companies including Tagahada and Synchro, Japanese leading OLED companies, and 10 Chinese optical communication and LED companies expressed their participation as well.

Global companies such as Philips, Osram and GE and key domestic telecommunication network business operators including KT, SKT, etc. are considering their participation positively.

The 2014 International Optical Convergence Technology Conference, to be held together with Photonics Korea 2014, will have lectures from 11 world-renowned domestic and overseas experts including Committee Chairman Umberto Rossi of IEC TC86, Dr. Norbert Grote of Fraunhofer Institute in Germany and Analyst Nigel Pugh of Ovum in the United States.

Photonics Korea 2014 plans to award the company that has developed new technologies and excellent products, and the person who has greatly contributed to the optical industry. The award is to encourage the development of new technologies of optical industry and to boost the morale of people in the field.

Photonics Korea 2014 will provide information about national policies, LED lighting distribution plans and know-hows that the overseas marketing centers (5 centers in 4 regions) of KAPID have accumulated through the operation so far. Participants will take part in workshops to learn about the status of the photonics industry market by countries, marketing advancement plans and successful cases.

A special exhibition for media artists will be held to lay the foundation for cultural contents industry through the convergence between LED industry and media art industry.

Also, a trade show will be held where 381 overseas potential buyers from 29 countries have been invited through the overseas network and individual buyer invitation support program for the potential buyers with real purchasing power in the United States, Japan, Germany, Denmark, China, Southeastern Asia and many more.

"We will make our best efforts to successfully hold the exhibition, which will become the keyword of leading the innovation in future cultural contents through the convergence with other industries," a KAPID official said.
