(GWANGJU=NEWSIS) Gwangju City announced May 6 that it will sign a memorandum of understanding with Shinsegae on May 11 to build complex facilities including a luxury hotel and duty free shop.

The luxury hotel, a 20-story building with 7 underground floors, will have more than 250 rooms. An E-Mart and a duty free shop will be located on the underground and sixth floor of the hotel.

The hotel, with an investment of KRW 500~600 billion, is to be completed in line with the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.

The construction of complex facilities is to prevent foreign tourists from concentrating on the metropolitan areas as a part of the city’s China-friendly policy and to prepare for the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.
