(GWANGJU=NEWSIS) Toyoyo, a design company in the Gwangju Design Center, has exported 1,500 products to Japan last year with the help from the Honam Support Center of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). The company faced difficulties in exporting its products to other countries as they did not know how to enter a foreign market.

Toyoyo recently attended the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair 2015 and signed an export contract that is worth USD 30,000 with Spice, a Japanese kitchen appliances distributor. It also was engaged in an export consultation that is worth USD 1.2 million with a Taiwanese distributor.

KOTRA played a pivotal role in helping Toyoyo, which has no export experience, to make inroads into foreign markets.

"We were able to enter the Chinese, Singaporean and North American markets thanks to the support of KOTRA. We have been receiving positive responses from China and Japan, as well," said a company official.

Toyoyo has been selected as a promising export small- and medium-sized company by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Business Administration.
