(GWANGJU=NEWSIS) Gwangju City announced September 14 that it has been selected to build a healthcare robot experiment complex as part of the new task of the 2015 industrial technology development infrastructure project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy.

The healthcare robot experiment complex will comprise healthcare robot test equipment for performance test evaluation, safety evaluation, credibility evaluation and clinical test support and testbed to meet the real environment by working with Chonnam National University Hospital clinical test center.

The city will invest a total of KRW 27.8 billion for the next five years until 2020 in building the healthcare robot experiment complex in the Gwangju Techno Park.

Gwangju has been striving to develop the robot industry as the new growth engine of the city by attracting the home service robot support center in 2009 and the micro medical robot center in 2013.
