(GWANGJU=NEWSIS) Gwangju City announced October 19 that it will establish a joint technology holding company with regional universities, city-funded organizations and small- and medium-sized companies that have advanced technologies.

The city will invest KRW 5 billion in the project for three years from 2016 to 2018 and secure KRW 3 billion of national expenses.

A consortium comprising the city, Chonnam National University and Chosun University has secured KRW 300 million of national expenses as it was selected for the public project to build an infrastructure for facilitating the technology holding company organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy last July.

The joint technology holding company will act as a control tower of technology projects where the Gwangju Technopark will establish a corporation and supervise the overall management, the Gwangju intellectual property center will evaluate the value of patents and the Gwangju research and development headquarters will support technology startups.
