According to Yonhap News,

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu City and Hanwha Techwin will sign an agreement on January 26 to develop the smart robot industry. Hanwha Techwin will establish a smart robot research center in March at what used to be the building for Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education.

The two will localize and standardize the drone communication technology that is highly dependent on import at the smart robot research center and jointly carry out teh tasks set by the central and local governments.

Also, they will provide the drone technology to regional companies to build an industrial ecosystem.

Daegu, home to 1,000 ICT companies, is selected as the optimal place for the drone industry.

"We will cooperate with Hanwha Techwin to transform the city into the mecca of drone industry," said Daegu City Mayor Kwon Young-jin.
