(GWANGJU=Yonhap News) Gwangju City and Daegu City agreed to establish a joint task force team to develop future vehicles, according to Gwangju on March 2.

The working-level groups in the automobile sector of both cities held a briefing session at the Southwest Region Office of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology to discuss ways to create the task force team.

The task force team is a follow-up to the cooperation agreement between Gwangju and Daegu, which was signed when Daegu City Mayor Kwon Young-jin visited Gwangju in the end of 2015. The agreement aims to develop the automobile industry, the core growth engine of both cities.

The task force team will seek ways to become the leader in the automobile industry by executing large-scale projects and promoting the enactment of a special law on the strategies to develop the future vehicles.
