(DAEGU=Yonhap News) A global game culture festival 'e-Fun 2016' was held between September 2 and 4 at the Dongseong-ro Street, Daegu Metropolitan City, South Korea.
Starting from the opening ceremony featured a movie screening of cinematic games produced by a local game company KOG, various programs were offered including a gaming event participated by local residents and a game talk show with a professional gamer.
On the sidelines of the festival, the 'Global Game Conference' was held to attract game experts from home and abroad for discussion on game development as well as strategies and success stories of overseas game business expansion.
Daegu has supported local game companies and operated the Global Game Center since 2013 in a bid to nurture the game industry.
Thanks to the city's initiative, total revenue collectively generated by local game companies rose to KRW 48.7 billion in 2014 from KRW 44.9 billion in 2012. The number of companies also increased from 37 to 54 during the same period.
