Daegu Taps into the Philippine Market

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) The Daegu Metropolitan Government announced September 5 that the city's officials visiting the Philippines to explore new markets agreed to cooperate on development of smart city, energy, water, and medicine with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).




Starting from September 1 for five days, the team of Daegu officials set up an office to promote the city's medical tourism in Manila and held presentation meetings in Manila and Albay. They also signed contracts with local travel agencies for medical tourism.

Daegu city expects to attract 2,000 medial tourists in the first half of next year through the efforts.

The MMDA is a special administrative agency which governs 16 cities and 1 municipality in Manila. As a presidential agency, it is responsible for city planning and development, city redevelopment, public health and hygiene management, pollution control, and disaster relief.
