(DAEGU=Yonhap News) The city of Daegu is seeking to boost its robots industry.

According to the city of July 30, second-stage tournaments for the Robot Olympiad Competition and the preliminary regional rounds for the STEAM CUP are set to take place at the city hall on August 8 as part of a greater effort to build Daegu's image as a robots industry hub.

Daegu-based national assmbly members are also trying to attract the International Robot Contest, previously held at the Incheon KINTEX, and two academic conferences to the city.

The city government plans to secure additional national and local funding to strengthen the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA), headquartered in Daegu.

In addition, the city will build a Robot Innovation Industrial Complex that will provide support for local robot companies.
