Preview in Daegu 2018 Showcases Convergence and Innovation in the Textile Industry

(DAEGU=Yonhap News) The event will be attended by 300 textile and fashion companies. “Preview in Daegu 2018” began its three-day journey at the EXCO in Daegu on March 7.

Its opening ceremony was attended by about 500 guests including Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin, Gyeongsangbuk-do Deputy Governor of Administration Kim Jang-ju, Head of the Preview in Daegu Organizing Committee Lee Eui-Yoel, Korea Federation of Textile Industries’ Sung Ki-hak, and Chairman of the Daegu Fashion Fair Organizing Committee Choi Bok-ho.

This year’s event, which celebrates the 17th anniversary of the festival, will bring together 300 textile and fashion companies across 14 countries and 175 buyers from 22 countries for business consultation.

Hyosung and Kolon Fashion Material participated along with their key vendors, and Youngwon, Banglim, Sinheung, Duckwoo, and Wooyang Advanced Material have also set up their booths at the festival venue. The participants showcased a wide range of leading products in the current global textile market, from functional fabric such as thermostatic, antibacterial, and heat-generating textiles to certified environment-friendly materials and materials for special uniforms.

Participating companies from outside Korea include 3Colour, one of China’s leading fashion brands, GVSSJEE, D-Harry, LHK Creation from the Philippines, Damo Textile from the United States, and Emmanuelle Khanh from France.

Also participating in the event are key buyers from 22 countries including emerging markets in Asia such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The fair coincides with the Daegu Fashion Fair 2018 and the 21st Korea International Textile Machinery Exhibition. Together, the events will propose a new convergent marketing model that encompasses the textile materials, fashion, and textile machinery sectors.

Chairman Lee Eui-yeol said: “The fair will provide local textile and fashion companies an opportunity to enhance their competitiveness in the global market and expand their export operations.”
