(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu City and Gyeongbuk-do Province will have a proclamation ceremony for the cooperation on nurturing innovative personnel for the promotion of eight regional future new industry on September 18 at Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation.

The event will be attended by 40 people, including the mayor of Daegu, governor of Gyeongbuk, university presidents and representatives from industry and research institutes.

About 44 institutions including 18 universities, 12 companies, 10 research institutions and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will give presentations on projects to nurture innovative personnel and measures to cooperate.

To grow 50 innovative leaders and 3,000 innovative talents by 2022, eight industries will each select one base university and one cooperative university and run a curriculum that meets the demand of regional businesses.

The companies hiring the innovative personnel will be provided with incentives to secure appropriate income.

"The regional community did not create a virtuous circle of nurturing talents to lead the companies, but the ceremony will help all redefine each one's role," said an official from Daegu City.
