Korea Research Institute for Fashion Industry (KRIFI) is to run a program to discover and foster young and creative designers in the region.
To this end, KRIFI announced on March 19 that it is to accept applicants for 2019 startup incubator project by April 26.
This project will be offered to university students enrolled at fashion-related departments in Daegu-based universities, offering the courses on developing and establishing business about fashion and lifestyle items.
In total, 10 teams will be selected to participate in an eight-month program, to be run from May to December.
The participants, selected based on document screening and presentation, will sign agreement in May and carry out projects with their product development cost subsidized. They will be offered with practical education and special lectures, and basic training about establishing an enterprise.
Also, a mentoring program by professors at university will be run to provide one-on-one consulting from the product planning phase all the way through development and marketing to help students open their business on a more stable footing.
This project aims to go beyond students' product development and support commercialization of their products. The participating students will have a chance to display or sell their products at Daegu International Fashion Culture Festival, scheduled for October.
