Daeju city is to push for establishment of Hydraulic Testing Center to develop the water industry.
According to Daegu city on June 6, it is pushing for establishment of Hydraulic Testing Center, a global-level performance certification and verification infrastructure, ahead of the completion of water cluster construction within this month.
The city plans to secure national budget of KRW 45.5 billion over the next three years until 2021 to build Hydraulic Testing Center within the water cluster.
It plans to finalize a basic plan for the center in the first half of this year, go through preliminary and detailed designs in the later half of this year, and commence construction next year.
Once the Center is built, performance test and technology infrastructure will become available for materials of the water industry, such as flow meter, pump, valve,and water meter, supporting technological innovation of SMEs and hydraulic testing.
In addition, a large-scale testing facilities required by SMEs will be in made in place, enabling performance test of international, country, and organizational standards for exports.
The city plans to secure advanced-level testing standards necessary for regional water companies and support international standards certification, i.e., the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
An official from Daegu city said, "As exports of water industry materials, such as flow meter, valve, are growing fast, there is urgency for establishment of certification and verification facilities of innovative technologies," adding that "we will build this testing center to support SMEs and reinvigorate the water industry."
