Daegu, designated UNESCO creative city, is selected to hold the conference of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) in 2021.
On July 3, Daegu city said it was selected to host the conference, beating Oslo of Norway, at a IASPM General Meeting held in Canberra, Australia on June 27.
The city succeeded in attracting the conference for the first time in Korea.
The IASPM conference, celebrating the 20th anniversary this year, is organized by the IASPM in every two years, where popular music composers and musicians come together to share study achievements.
In the next conference, to be held in Daegu in 2021, 300 popular music experts from around the world will participate.
