(DAEGU=Yonhap News) Daegu Water Industry Innovation Forum, designed to foster the water industry, held an inaugural meeting and commencing official work on August 12.

On August 12, Daegu City announced that it established the water industry innovation forum jointly with Daegu-Gyeongbuk Research Institute, to explore measures to develop the water management sector and stabilize water industry cluster as soon as possible.

The inaugural meeting was participated by experts from the Ministry of Environment, Korea Environment Corporation, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea Environment Institute, Korea Water & Wastewater Works Association, and private companies.

The forum is consisted of four subcommittees: strategy to expand added-value of the water industry; direction for sustainable development of water and wastewater; establishing future-oriented value of the water industry; and technology innovation in the water sector in relation with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Experts in the subcommittee will hold discussion every month by subject, aiming to set forth detailed implementation direction of the water industry by the end of this year.

A Daegu City official said, "The forum will discuss measures to improve added-value through technology innovation and overseas market expansion of the water industry."
