According to Yonhap News,

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) said on Jan 1 that the city of Daegu embarks on a business feasibility assessment from Jan 4, an investigative process to substantiate the viability of the city-led project to form a local manufacturing cluster in which high-tech precision medical devices are produced.

The project aims at economies of agglomeration by which manufacturing capacity can be concentrated in one place to exclusively produce 3D- printed medical devices such as artificial joint replacement, materials used for cranioplasty surgery or artificial cheekbone for facial contouring surgery, and to be commercially authorized by the Korean Food and Drug Administration during the first six months of this year.

MSS said “It’s cost-efficient once the facility starts operation as it helps us save as much as KRW 2 billion.”
Daegu city was once selected as a special zone dedicated to medical-bio/healthcare technology in Jul 2019.
