The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said on June 21 that it will lay the institutional foundation to create Smart Green Industrial Complex and proceed with pilot projects in Daegu Yulha Urban High-tech Industrial Complex, Jeonju Carbon National Industrial Complex, and Saemangeum National Industrial Complex.
With revision to 'ENFORCEMENT DECREE OF THE INDUSTRIAL SITES AND DEVELOPMENT ACT', Smart Green Industrial Complex project is to proceed from June 23.
Going forward, buildings of 3,000㎡ or more in total ground area and designated by District Unit Plan should obtain green building certification and energy efficiency certification.
To encourage active participation of tenant companies, it will provide industrial land earlier or at lower cost to companies installing renewable energy facilities on the factory roof or idle lands or constructing environmentally friendly buildings.
With these pilot projects of smart green national industrial complex as a start, MOLIT set the goal of making 35 smart green industrial complex which reduce carbon emissions by 25% or more by 2030.
An official said, "It is vital to set a carbon reduction plan at the early planning stage of industrial complex to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality 2050," adding "we'll provide support to 3 pilot industrial complex to set an example of successful low-carbon & high-efficiency energy structure."
