Daegu Contents Business Center (DCOE) will hold an opening ceremony on December 22 and begin operation next year.
Daegu-si announced on December 21 that DCOE, the first complex model combining enterprise incubation facilities and startup support housing, will begin full operation.
DCOE, which means 'Contain everything about Daegu content's business', will play the role of improving the settlement conditions of local contents enterprises and supporting their growth.
It was completed in August in Dongdaegu-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, with a total floor area of 17,032 m2, 5 underground floors and 17 above ground floors. A total of KRW 30 billion was invested in its construction, including KRW 10 billion from the government and KRW 20 billion from local funds.
It has the contents business center from B1-5F, and startup support housing including officetels and urban-type apartments from 6F to 17F.
Daegu-si built DCOE in consideration of the annual average growth of 66.9% in sales by local gaming companies during 2017-2019.
Of the 29 corporate rooms, 20 of them have been signed by 15 local content companies to move in.
53 out of 100 start-up support houses have completed contracts for move-in, and 47 are in the process of reviewing the eligibility of content companies and college students.
The city plans to foster 10 pre-unicorns with an enterprise value of KRW 10 billion or more among the tenant companies over the next five years.
In addition, it plans to nurture 1,500 talents for contents innovation in order to resolve the shortage of high-quality professionals.
