DYETEC announced on March 7 that 'The 2nd Dornbirn GFC-ASIA', the world's largest international textile conference, was successfully completed.

This event was co-hosted by DYETEC and the Korea Federation of Textile Industries at EXCO in Daegu on March 2-3.

17 countries, including European countries such as Austria and Belgium, and US, as well as Asian countries, participated in the conference, which was held both online and offline.

This year, the conference was held under five themes, which are - ▲ textile technology innovation ▲ non-woven and industrial textiles ▲ functional textiles ▲composite materials, and ▲ sustainability and circular economy.

Starting with the opening by the Chairperson Song Byung-Gap of GFC-ASIA Secretariat and congratulatory speech by Friedrich Weninger, head of the Austrian Textile Research Institute, a total of 33 lectures followed. All lecturers were provided with simultaneous interpretation service.

Participants shared their experiences during the transformation of the sustainable textile industry, addressing environmental regulations, microplastics, eco-friendly textiles, and recyclable products, which are regarded as major global issues. While exploring ways to make improvement in each area, they also discussed the direction of future research themes.

Dornbirn GFC, which started in 1961 and marks the 61st this year, is the world's largest international textile conference initiated to foster the chemical fiber industry, led by the Austrian Lenzing AG (Lenzing) and the European Chemical Fiber Federation.

It is held every year in Dornbirn, Austria, with 5-7 themes. This year, it will be held for 3 days from September 14 to 16.
