Daegu-Jeju selected for SW convergence cluster...KRW 18 bln support over 5 yrs

The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced on March 31 that it selected the Daegu-Jeju Consortium as the recipient of support for the 'Software (SW) Convergence Cluster 2.0' project in 2022.

SW Convergence Cluster 2.0 is a project to create a SW convergence ecosystem by applying Data, Network, and Artificial intelligence (D·N·A) technologies to key regional industries. So far, 13 regions and 12 clusters have been designated.

The MSIT elaborated on achievements of this project, which has created 486 jobs, supported commercialization of 245 companies, discovered 228 new projects and produced 3,714 SW experts over the past three years.

The Daegu-Jeju SW Convergence Cluster, selected this time, plans to create a data-oriented digital leading smart city by establishing an ultra-wide cooperative infrastructure, led by the SW promotion complex in Daegu and the advanced science and technology complex in Jeju.

The Daegu base will be responsible for SW convergence services development, while the Jeju base will be responsible for the demonstration and commercialization of SW convergence services.

The MSIT has decided to support KRW 18 billion over five years until 2026. A fund dedicated to improve the investment environment of local companies will also be set up.
