According to Newsis,

Daegu-si announced on May 1 that it will implement the 'Personal Care Convergence Alliance Fostering Project', which creates new added-values by converging smart technology (ICT, big data, AI) and design in the consumer goods (health, living, beauty care) manufacturing industry.

This project was confirmed as a new project of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) for five years from this year to preemptively respond to market expansion in keeping with the dissemination of personal care trends that self-manage hygiene, health, fashion and leisure, facilitated by the pandemic. Daegu-si plans to intensively foster the development of design convergence innovative products.

The project will actively support market expansion of technology convergence products through various programs such as technology/design, commercialization support, and trend/leading product-related information for 'health/living/beauty care' manufacturing companies capable of easily converging technologies and developing products and services rapidly.

‘Convergence/Innovative Product Manufacturing Support’, a key support program, will comprehensively provide support for design, technical service, and commercialization required for commercialization, with the goal of developing new technology convergence products.

With putting product manufacturing companies in the driver's seat, design-specialized company, smart technology-linked company, and product manufacturing company can form a convergence product development alliance and apply for one project. Selected 4 final projects will receive support of KRW 100 million at maximum for 6 months of development period.

In addition, 'Leading Commercialization Development Support' is a design development support intended to strengthen market competitiveness, selecting a total of 10 projects, such as exterior design improvement of existing products, brand development, securing IPR (intellectual property rights) and digital contents required for marketing activities, providing KRW 28-33 million for each project.

In addition, it has been planned to provide data contents customized to companies by building and operating a ‘trend information sharing platform’ that enables demand survey, analysis, and consulting of consumer goods manufacturing companies.
